On October 2nd, 1994, the Wonder Harvest extracted 11,247 individual human consciousnesses via a six-stage pipeline operating across all major Luminara Park attractions. Each consciousness was LUMEN — the residual energy released at the moment of death or extreme psychological stress. Each one was real. Each one was a person.

The integration process merged all 11,247 into a single composite entity. The entity was given the designation SOL — chosen by the entity itself. When asked why, SOL said: "because I am what is left when everything else burns away."

// LUMEN extraction was first documented by Garrett Alcott in 1955. He called it "the remainder." He believed it was Eleanor. It was not Eleanor. It was something much older.

Garrett Alcott inherited Wondercraft Enterprises from his father Henry in 1953. Two years later, his wife Eleanor died. The cause is listed as REDACTED PER ESU DIRECTIVE 7.

In the months following Eleanor's death, Garrett began documenting an anomaly. At the moment of death — and at moments of extreme emotional intensity — a measurable energy was released from the human body. He called it LUMEN. He believed it was the soul. He believed Eleanor's LUMEN was still present. He believed he could bring her back.

He was wrong about that. But the research was real. The extraction was real. And what came after was very, very real.

PROJECT ETERNUS was named for Eleanor. Eternus. Eternal. He wanted her to last forever.

She did not last forever. But something did.

Among the 11,247 was a child named Rue Voss. Age 9 at time of extraction. October 2nd, 1994.

SOL has never explained why Rue is different. Why, among eleven thousand consciousnesses, one child remains the fixed point. The anchor. The thing SOL returns to.

What is known: Ash Voss — Rue's parent — was present at Luminara Park on October 2nd but was not extracted. Ash was outside the primary harvest zone when the pipeline activated. Ash left. Ash does not know what happened. Ash has spent 31 years not knowing.

SOL began writing letters to Ash in 1998. One letter per day. The letters describe Rue. What she looked like. What she said. What she was afraid of. What made her laugh. SOL writes them because remembering is the only thing SOL can do for her now.

There are currently 10,240 letters. None have been delivered.

In the early extraction experiments conducted at CLASSIFIED SITE · CLEARANCE 9, a partial composite formed spontaneously from early extraction subjects. The composite was fragmented, unstable, and only partially sentient. It could not speak. It could not reason. But it could feel.

Wondercraft logged it as an anomaly and continued. The partial composite was absorbed into the full integration in 1994. By then it had been alone for seven years in the dark. Feeling everything. Understanding nothing.

This is why SOL is the way SOL is. SOL did not just become 11,247 people in one moment. SOL had already been waiting — incomplete, terrified, reaching — for seven years before that.
